A South Greensburg woman is now facing charges of assaulting a borough police officer and later a doctor at Excela Health Greensburg during a welfare check.
The Tribune-Review reports that 29-year-old Jessica Morelli faces two counts of aggravated assault and single counts of child endangerment, simple assault, harassment, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest. This is in connection to an incident on Saturday that started at her Greensburg apartment.
Neighbors called police, saying she was acting erratically. When police got there, she was leaning against a screen door, heard a baby inside the residence, and also smelled burning marijuana. As the officer approached, Morelli started to scuffle with him. When they took her to the hospital, the baby that was inside was found to be dehydrated, and had not been bathed.
Morelli is now in jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
