PennDOT crews are monitoring a sinkhole that was discovered at a gas station along Route 51 in Rostraver.
We reported to you yesterday that the sinkhole was discovered yesterday morning and had grown to be 10 feet deep, and while it has been growing over the last few years, it grew quickly due to the record-setting wet weather we’ve had this season.
The sinkhole is due to a storm water pipe that collapsed in 2011, and the pipe and sinkhole are on separate properties, with both entities unable to agree as to who should pay for repairs.
PennDOT will continue to monitor as it is close to state highways and I-70.
