A group of environmentalists are demanding the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County board members to order a halt to deep well gas drilling at the Beaver Run Reservoir in Washington and Bell Townships.
The Tribune-Review reports that the group on Friday made a formal request of the municipal authority to ask the Department of Environmental Protection to stop all drilling and fracking activities at Beaver Run. The concerns came after one of the CNX wells had a drop in pressure, causing drilling to be temporarily halted. The well in question was capped, but drilling is expected to continue
Municipal authority members say that the incident did not impact the drinking water supply.
