The two men who are awaiting re-trial in connection with a shooting in Monessen two years ago have rejected plea agreements and have asked for a jury trial.
The Tribune-Review reports that Joseph Heath and Rashawn Ford, both from Monessen are charged with the shooting of Timothy Kershaw. Heath was charged with attempted murder and 13 other offenses, while Ford faces two counts of conspiracy. A mistrial was declared in January before Kershaw was set to testify after prosecutors accidentally failed to turn over new statements Kershaw made to police days before the trial.
The plea agreement would have allowed Heath to plead guilty to lesser charges and sentenced to time served since his arrest, but his attorney said that Heath objected to pleading guilty to a felony offense. Their trial is set for this week.
