People in Irwin will soon see a new patrol car on the streets.
The Tribune-Review reports that Irwin borough council on Wednesday approved the purchase of a 2019 Chevy Tahoe from a car dealership in North Huntingdon, and it will replace a 2012 Chevy Impala on the beat. The chief of police recommended that the police keep the Impala as a backup vehicle.
The cost of the vehicle, including all accessories necessary to make it a police vehicle, is $52,870, and that has been covered by about $40,000 from the capital reserves and another $12,000 from its liquid fuels funds.
