A woman from the New Derry area is facing charges after Westmoreland County Sheriffs seized drugs and cash while they were serving an arrest warrant on her.
The Tribune-Review reports that Sheriffs Deputies were serving an arrest warrant on 37-year-old Rachel Johns at a home in Unity when they found a needle and some other drug paraphernalia in her bedroom. When they searched her room, they found several bundles of heroin and about $1750 in cash. She admitted to sheriffs deputies that she got the majority of the cash selling drugs.
The warrant was served on her for failing to appear for a February court hearing in a 2018 drug case. A plea hearing is set for Wednesday, but Johns now faces new drug offenses.
