Greensburg City Police are making the public aware of a scam where someone claiming to work for the police has a warrant out for their arrest.
In an announcement on their Facebook page, Greensburg police say the scammer will claim that the victim’s Social Security number was being used for illegal activity and there are warrants out for their arrest. They also claim they will transfer the call to a police department representative and once that’s completed, the department’s phone number shows up on caller ID. Police say that the scammer is spoofing the department’s phone number.
Police say never give out any personal information to anyone threatening you with arrest over the phone. Call your local police if you feel you have had a call like this.
