The mayor of Derry charged with pointing a gun at kids at a local park is now free on bond.
The Tribune-Review reports that Derry Mayor Kevin Gross was released from Westmoreland County Prison on $20,000 bond, which was posted by Rosanne Neiman of Latrobe.
Gross faces four counts of aggravated and simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment stemming from an incident where his son was in a fist fight. He allegedly pointed a gun at one of the other boys’ heads and also allegedly demanded some girls nearby to put down their cellphones and belongings down while he pointed the weapon at them. He would holster the gun before police got there and turned the gun over to police later on.
Gross’ preliminary hearing is set for April 24th.
