A Greensburg man’s appeal to have a classification of a sexually violent predator lifted failed in a recent session of court.
The Tribune-Review reports that 43-year-old Bilaal Hale said he should no longer be considered a sex offender and not register his whereabouts with police for the rest of his life. This was based on a 2017 ruling by the State Supreme Court that found sentencing and certain registration requirements for convicted sex offenders were unconstitutional, but not retroactive to older cases.
Hale is currently serving a nine-to-eighteen year prison sentence for failure to register as a sex offender.
