The Westmoreland County Special Olympics is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
The Tribune-Review reports that more than 180 athletes took part in the one-day competition at Norwin High School. Before the events got underway on Saturday, organizers honored Milton Claney, who was responsible for bringing the Special Olympics to the area in 1969. He ran the local Special Olympics for 20 years.
