Mt. Pleasant has named veteran officer George Grippo as their new chief of police.
The Tribune-Review reports that Grippo had served as the interim chief since February, when council dismissed Douglas Sam by a 6-3 vote. The Mt. Pleasant borough council voted unanimously for Grippo, who has been with the department since 1996.
