A Derry man who served his country in World War 2 received an honorary diploma from Derry High School on Wednesday.
The Tribune-Review reports that Pete Sabedra was on hand for graduation ceremonies to accept his diploma nearly eight decades after he left school to support his family. After working on the railroad for a few years, Pete and his brother enlisted in the military.
He got to walk the stage with his grandson Kace, who earned the World Language Honor Society award for Spanish, during the school’s annual awards ceremony.
