A Smithton man was sentenced to three months to two years for a guilty plea to one count of simple assault in connection with an alleged kidnapping.
The Tribune-Review reports that 37-year-old J.R. Lee Keener pleaded guilty to the charge that goes back to a July 16th incident where Keener allegedly hid in the back seat of his ex-girlfriend’s car and after she left work, he attacked her and demanded she drive him to various locations in Elizabeth, McKeesport and Glassport before eventually taking him to Excela Health Frick Hospital in Mt. Pleasant to pick up a prescription the following morning. She was able to get away at the time and call 911. The woman told police she was beaten as well during that time.
Charges of kidnapping, terroristic threats and unlawful restraint were dismissed.
