The Westmoreland County Land Bank hit two milestones this week as they sold their 70th property and purchased their 100th.
The Tribune-Review reports that the 70th property’s sale is pending, but the property was in Jeannette. The profits from the sale of the house will go back into improvements for other land bank properties. The Land Bank also announced that they have acquired their 100th property, which is a vacant lot in downtown Vandergrift, which sits between two blighted buildings.
The Land Bank acquires blighted properties through judicial sales or by donations from banks and private owners, and they try to either fix the property for re-sale or helps with the demolition.
