Board members with the Norwin School District are approving a new five-year contract for Assistant Superintendent Natalie McCracken. This week, the board voted to approve a deal for McCracken that includes a salary of over 172-thousand dollars, plus a bonus and annual raises. Board member Shawna Ilagan supported McCracken for a contract renewal, but argued that her salary is too much for the district to spend. She suggested a three-year contract with smaller raises or no bonuses. Ilagan says the board still needs to find a replacement for Superintendent Jeff Taylor when he leaves at the end of June and advisors have told them they will have to offer higher pay to attract qualified candidates.
