A portion of a triangular intersection in Norvelt in Mt. Pleasant Township is closed today as part of the construction of a new roundabout. The Trib reports that the short section of Mount Pleasant Road that curves to the right for southbound traffic heading onto Route 981 will close. Instead, southbound motorists will be directed to make a short detour, turning left onto Kecksburg Road and then turning right onto Route 981.The reverse order of turns will apply for motorists heading north on Route 981 who wish to turn onto Mount Pleasant Road. The work is part of the $55.2 million Laurel Valley Transportation Improvement Project to upgrade the Route 981 corridor between the intersection with Route 819 in Mt. Pleasant Township and Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Unity.
