Local leaders in Latrobe are planning to bid out the city’s garbage collection contracts for 2026. The city has been forced to increase rates for residents by two percent this year and will likely do the same next year under a contract with Republic Services. In an effort to find some more competitive pricing, local officials say they will part out bids for the service starting in 2026. That means a smaller company could choose to enter a bid on just one part of the trash and recycling collection services that are needed, according to officials.
