County agencies that are seeing an uptick in wound injuries due to the effects of xylazine abuse could see some kits come their way to help them combat those wounds. The Trib reports that non-profit groups Sage’s Army and Lost Dreams Awakening have requested the kits from the State Department of Health through county Tim Phillips, director of the county’s department of community relations and prevention. Xylazine is increasingly being mixed with illegal street drugs such as fentanyl and cocaine. It was the second-highest contributor to accidental drug overdose deaths in Westmoreland County last year, behind fentanyl.
