A retired New Kensington-Arnold School District counselor and coach is being recognized for his contribution to the community. Area leaders, friends, and loved ones gathered at MJ’s Bar and Grille in Arnold this past Saturday to congratulate 75-year-old Hank Commodore as he received the Lifetime of Service Award. Many of the speakers mentioned Commodore’s tough coaching style when he led the basketball team at Valley High School, demanding hard work on athletics and academics for the students he was in charge of. Commodore has also contributed to the community by serving as a foster parent and through the organization he founded, Help the Needy, Not the Greedy.
