Murrysville officials are considering closing Old William Penn Highway this summer to repair a small bridge over Turtle Creek just west of Export. The Trib reports that the bridge has had its weight limit reduced a few months ago from 16 tons to 6. The reductions came after inspections by Pittsburgh-based SAI Engineering, which is contracted through PennDOT to conduct bridge inspections across the state. The reduction primarily affects school buses, large truck traffic and fire trucks. The options that are being considered are whether to close both lanes and complete the repair work in two months or go with single-lane closures and have the project take longer.
