The Heinz Endowments said in a federal lawsuit on Monday that their former senior technology advisor embezzled nearly $1 million from the organization over a seven-year period. Charles Richardson, who was hired by Heinz Endowments in 2014, was responsible for all technological aspects of the organization’s operation, including developing and maintaining their servers and IT systems. He’s accused of taking $960,000 between 2016 and 2023 by directing payment for services by the company that were either never performed or were completed by a third-party IT vendor.
