OVER 35 FIRE COMPANIES BATTLE BLAZE IN AVONMORE

More than 35 companies from several counties battled a fire that destroyed an Avonmore bar Saturday afternoon. The blaze was first reported just after 4:30 in the afternoon at the tavern known as “My Buddy’s Place”, at 407 Indiana Avenue. A state police fire marshal will investigate to determine the cause but firemen at the scene said it might have started in the kitchen as a grease fire. Heavy machinery was brought in last night to pull down the walls after the floors of the old building collapsed.
