A newly commissioned study is looking into whether a once popular swimming spot can be reopened in Westmoreland County. A Pittsburgh engineering firm is getting 100-thousand dollars to develop a report on the revitalization of Ligonier Beach. The study is being paid for by a community group called the Friends of Ligonier Beach and a grant from the state’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Ligonier Township officials say they plan to hold public meetings to gather suggestions for the property once the report is completed.
