Bushy Run Battlefield’s annual reenactment of the battle in 1763 during Pontiac’s rebellion has been cancelled for this year due to the damage caused by the recent tornadoes. The Trib reports that the Bushy Run Battlefield Board of Directors said on Facebook that the site could not be made reasonably safe and accessible to the public in time for the annual reenactment in early August. The damage was from an EF1 Tornado that went through on June 26th that left downed and uprooted trees, blocking trails and spreading debris. Last year, the reenactment was cancelled when the state Historic and Museum Commission forbade force-on-force reenactments, but that decision was reversed, but there was a requirement that all people portraying native americans consult members of relevant tribes for historical accuracy.
