Work will get underway soon on a new sewage plant in North Huntingdon. The Trib reports that the $46.1 million facility near the Youghiogheny River in North Huntingdon will replace a facility that is close to 50 years old that has aging equipment and infrastructure. The new facility will also increase the maximum daily capacity of the treatment plant from 10 million gallons to 16 million gallons. There are no plans to raise sewage rates in order to pay the debt service incurred by the project, which is scheduled to start soon and wrap up in February of 2027.
