Firefighters in Jeannette were at work on Saturday installing free smoke detectors in about 25 homes. The Trib reports that the effort was through a partnership of the fire department, Jeannette City School District, and the Chestnut Ridge and Allegheny Mountains chapters of the American Red Cross. This was done in the wake of the house fire on March 20th of this year, where a man and four of his children were killed in the fire on Guy Street.
