West Penn Power crews are continuing to work to restore power to everyone after Tuesday’s storms. First Energy, the parent company, says that about 113,000 customers lost power across the state, and crews are currently assessing the level of damage. As of this morning, 16,562 customers in Westmoreland County are still in the dark today. People are reminded if you are operating a generator, the power coming into the home should always be disconnected, otherwise power could be sent back onto power lines and that could create a hazardous situation for workers. They also advise that you use a battery-powered flashlight or lantern for light. If you are using candles, be careful as open flames are a fire hazard. Also, some schools are closed again today due to the outage. You can find that list at WHJBfm.com
