MAN ARRESTED AFTER POLICE CHASE

A man was arrested after a chase in Westmoreland County that resulted in two police officers hurt.  KDKA-TV reports that Matthew Murphy was spotted by a policeman in Jeannette, and when he was asked to get out of his vehicle.  Murphy refused and physically resisted efforts by police to get him out, and he was able to put the car in gear and get away.  He crashed into a temporary fence at the end of an alley and then tried to run away on foot, but he was caught in someone’s backyard.  Police said that they found drug contraband on his person, and that he was wanted on warrants.  Murphy is currently in Westmoreland County Jail as bail was denied.
