Tree of Life synagogue shooter Robert Bowers is not getting a new trial. A federal judge denied a request from defense attorneys to hold new hearings on Friday. Bowers’ lawyers argued that prosecutors did not prove his actions were intended to interfere with the religious freedom rights of victims. In his rejection of the motion, Judge Robert Colville said evidence shows Bowers was motivated to carry out the attack because the victims were Jewish. Last year, Bowers was convicted of murdering eleven people at the Tree of Life synagogue in 2018. He has been sentenced to death.
