A Homer City woman who police claimed was the ringleader of a series of catalytic converter thefts was granted leniency by a Westmoreland County judge and orders her to serve seven years of probation. The Trib reports that Debra Lynn McAdams avoided jail time because Common Pleas Judge Scott Mears said the prospect of having three children ranging in ages from 4 to 11, placed in foster care outweighed the need for McAdams to be incarcerated. She will serve seven years of probation, including 33 months on house arrest, and must undergo a psychological evaluation. McAdams and three men were charged last year in connection with the catalytic converter thefts between September and November 2022 from multiple locations in Indiana and Westmoreland counties.
