The Greensburg Catholic Diocese is putting in some safeguards to make sure someone who has a disqualifying criminal record is not hired by the diocese. This comes on the heels of the Diocese announcing they became aware of the criminal history of Shon Harrity after new charges were filed against him this month. Those previous charges included rape, statuory sexual assault and others. This has prompted an investigation by county detectives and resulted in the resignation of Father John Moineau. Going forward, priests and administrators have been ordered to review employee and volunteer files, take part in an audit of clearances by human resources, take part in mandatory sessions on safe environment training and clearance renewals must be made everytime an employee or volunteer transfers positions.
