A man from Hunker will serve six months of probation for his part in the shooting of two dogs and concealing their bodies. The Trib reports that on Friday, 38-year-old Jason W. Beal testified during his trial in March that he shot a neighbor’s dog as it lay wounded in his driveway after being shot by another neighbor. A second dog had been shot and killed by the neighbor. While he was convicted of tampering with evidence, conspiracy and theft, he was found not guilty of animal cruelty. Beal, according to police, removed the dogs’ collars and never disclosed the shooting even as their owners searched for their missing pets and asked for help via social media and news reports. The dogs were discovered days later by hunters behind Calvary Baptist Church in New Stanton, state police said.
