The attorney for a man accused of attempted murder in a stabbing outside the Rialto in 2022 said his client was acting out of self defense. The Trib reports that opening statements were made in the trial of 23-year-old Anthony Sharp on Monday. Police said that the victim, Joseph Williams of New Alexandria, was stabbed 10 times during the altercation. The stabbing incident came nearly a year after a separate fight involving two men spilled out of the Rialto and resulted in gunfire in which one man was wounded and a bystander was shot. The trial is expected to last a week, and testimony will begin today.
