New Kensington City Council rejected a liquor license transfer request to a gas station. The Trib reports that the license for Valero gas station at the intersection of Seventh Street and Constitution Boulevard was unanimously rejected over concerns of crime. In May, several residents voiced opposition to the station obtaining a license to sell beer and wine, while store representatives said that the gas station would be at a disadvantage to stores like Sheetz and Giant Eagle that can sell alcohol. City officials said that the station is in a high crime area and has seen 15 calls this year alone and 67 times last year.
