A Unity man was ordered to serve time in state prison for bilking vendors at his stepdaughter’s wedding and related weapons charges. The Trib reports that last December, a jury found 52-year-old Joseph Malago guilty of 18 criminal counts over four separate cases, including charges of writing bad checks to cover payments at a 2020 wedding at Hempfield Park and cashing other bad checks at area banks and businesses. He also was found guilty of the illegal possession of nine guns, which were found in his home following his arrest. Westmoreland County Judge Tim Krieger ordered Malago to serve 21 to 42 months in jail for the check-related charges and a consecutive five to 10 year sentence for the weapons offenses.
