LIGHTNING STRIKE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIRE THAT DAMAGED MONESSEN HOME

A Monessen couple says a lightning strike is responsible for sparking a fire that left their home damaged this week.  Chris Vaccaro says his wife was out in the backyard of their property and saw a bolt of electricity hit the corner of their house.  The couple called 911 after smelling smoke and firefighters cut a hole in the ceiling, finding a portion of the rafters in flames.  Vaccaro says the fast response from emergency workers kept the family from losing their entire home.
