HEMPFIELD CARJACKING SUSPECT APPREHENDED

The suspect in a carjacking on Sunday at the Burlington parking lot in Hempfield was taken into custody in Millvale.  The Trib reports that the key was taken from the woman’s purse around 1:00 PM at the store’s lot.  Police say 39-year-old Paulino Romero then allegedly drove the SUV about 42 miles away and abandoned it at a gas station.  Millvale police took Romero into custody on charges of trespass, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness in connection with an incident the same day.  He admitted to police that he had planned the carjacking over the three days prior to the event.  He is now in Westmoreland County Prison awaiting his July 3rd preliminary hearing.
