The unclaimed remains of 52 people and a fetus were interred yesterday in Potter’s field near the Westmoreland County prison. The Trib reports that this was part of a project to make sure the unclaimed remains had a dignified final resting place. Two others, who were identified as veterans, were taken to the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Washington County for their own ceremonies. The 53 interred in Westmoreland County are in a columbarium at the potter’s field, which was bought with $15,000 in state funding.
