The teenager responsible for the death of Amari Altomore in 2022 was ordered yesterday to serve time in prison. The Trib reports that 17-year-old Terry Newton will serve between eight and 25 years in state prison for guilty pleas to charges of voluntary manslaughter and illegal firearm possession. Prosecutors said that Newton shot Altomore during an altercation in November of 2022 as the teens played video games in Newton’s South 14th Street home. Newton apologized to both families during the sentencing hearing, saying that he was still coming to terms with Altomore’s death.
