Spirit Airlines is planning to eliminate some of its flights from Latrobe to Orlando Florida in August and September. The Trib reports the plan is to go to four flights a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays during that time, but resume daily flights to Orlando in October. Spirit is cutting back on those daily flights as it manages “constraints related to GTF engine availability,” Fletcher said. That Pratt & Whitney engine has been the subject of inspections since the manufacturer notified the airline industry in July 2023 that there were problems with the engine’s powdered metal composition. Pratt & Whitney said about 1,200 Airbus jets with that engine would need about two months for an inspection and repairs. While the service to Orlando is cut back, there will be an increase in the seasonal flights offered to Myrtle Beach.
