ALLEGHENY COUNTY’S SHUMAN JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER REOPENS UNDER ADELPHOI LATROBE

Today is the reopening of the Shuman Juvenile Detention Center in Allegheny County, but it will be operated by Adelphoi out of Latrobe.  The Trib reports that the facility was closed three years ago and had its license revoked.  The center will serve as a short-term detention center for young people ages 10 to 20.  One pod will be open today with 12 beds available, but Adelphoi officials say they want to have a maximum capacity of 60.
