Local officials in Lower Burrell are working on a set of consumer fireworks guidelines but they won’t be in place for the holiday tomorrow. Mayor Chris Fabry says they want to pass a measure that clears up some of the confusion that has surrounded the use of fireworks since they were legalized on a state level. The rules look very similar to the City of Pittsburgh’s policy, requiring fireworks to be 150 feet away from a building or vehicle. No one under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be able to legally use them and there will be restrictions around the time of day they can be used. Lower Burrell leaders expect to pass the ordinance next month.
