The New Kensington-Arnold school district is once again considering a merger with the Burrell School District. The Trib reports that the topic was brought up Tuesday night at the New Kensington-Arnold meeting by board member Bob Pallone, who said that Burrell Township has the highest property tax rate in the county and is considering closing Stewart Elementary School. When the issue was raised in the past, New Kensington-Arnold was carrying too much debt for the district for Burrell. Burrell officials say they have not been approached about a merger deal.
