Sexual assault charges will be held for a former Ligonier Valley police chief. The Trib reports that on Friday, the accuser testified about how she met John Berger while the two were patients at a Donegal Township addiction recovery center. Things got heated on cross-examination when defense attorney Duke George raised his voice as he questioned the victim, accusing her of making up the story. She denied it, but Judge Allison Thiel after Assistant District Attorney James Lazar objected to defense attorney Duke George yelling questions at the witness. Both attorneys bickered throughout the proceeding. Berger maintained his innocence at the hearing.
