A South Greensburg man was ordered to serve a year on probation for an altercation with security officers at Hempfield High School. The Trib reports that 58-year-old Richard Bettis was charged in connection with an incident on September 10th, 2021 when he tried to go in the building to drop off paperwork. School officials stopped him because he was not wearing a mask that was required due to Covid-19. When he refused to leave, he became physical with security officers and an officer suffered a cut to his arm. Along with the probation term, Bettis is banned from all Hempfield School District Property.
