Earlier this week, the Westmoreland Land Trust unveiled elements of a preliminary master plan for its St. Xavier Nature Preserve in Unity that includes an expanded network of trails, multiple parking areas and an enlarged farm stand space along Route 30. About 25 people turned out for a Wednesday afternoon gathering to view and comment on the plan. 7 sections of the preserve have been planted with native wildflowers while more than 2,000 trees and more than 600 shrubs were added to create a buffer area along waterways that cross the site, Monastery Run and its tributaries.
