The installation of about 50 miles of fiber optic cable that’s needed to expand broadband internet services in Westmoreland County is about 60% complete, according to county officials. The Trib reports that this is part of an ongoing effort to bring broadband internet to over 3500 homes and businesses that currently don’t have reliable internet access. County officials say about 30 miles of cable is installed, and work is proceeding ahead of schedule. The project is expected to wrap up by year’s end.
