MAN ASSAULTED IN WESTMORELAND COUNTY PRISON

The attorney for a North Huntingdon man who admitted to sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl says his client was sexually assaulted while at Westmoreland County Prison.  The Trib reports that 41-year-old James Gockel pleaded guilty earlier this year to charges of aggravated indecent assault of a child, indecent assault and over two dozen counts of child pornography possession.  At his sentencing hearing yesterday, Defense attorney Pat Thomassey pleaded for leniency saying his client has lead a troubled life, and that included the assault against his client after his arrest.  Judge Meghan Billik-Defazio sentenced Gockel to five to ten years in prison, three years of probation and and ordered Gockel to complete sex offender treatment..
