The county register of wills has officially resigned her position. The Trib reports that 47-year-old Sherry Margetti Hamilton ended her tenure at the county row office yesterday. Her resignation was part of a court settlement that involved claims she failed to run the office adequately and violated two court orders that required her to perform mandated functions and appear in person at the courthouse. While the resignation was supposed to take effect in January, Hamilton said in August that she would officially step down yesterday. Katie Pecarchik, who was hired as the office’s first deputy earlier this summer, will become acting register of wills, while office conservator Jim Antoniono will continue in his capacity on a limited basis.
