PURCHASING DEPARTMENT DIRECTORS FIRED

Westmoreland County’s Commissioners fired the director and assistant director of the county’s purchasing department on Thursday over alleged payroll discrepancies. The Trib reports that Director Kristopher Cardiff and his deputy Kristen Coyne were accused of raising their salaries and the department’s four other staffers without authorization. The two were initially suspended in August as the allegations came up. Cardiff has denied the allegations. The county District Attorney’s office has not commented on the matter.
